Today our Sara passed away.
Camden took it very hard. We waited to be able to tell him together. I tried to distract him by playing outside. But, he had to go to the bathroom and came back out with our other guinea pig, Dalia. He didn't notice Sara wasn't there. I didn't say anything. 10 minutes later he said he was going to go in and get Sara to play. I stopped him and we waited for Daddy.
Camden took the news very hard. At first he thought we were joking. We took him in to see the cage. Then he wanted to see her. He petted her with tears in his eyes.
Camden wakes up in the morning asking to hold the guinea pigs, when he comes home from school, it's one of the first things he does. He is a very loyal pet owner. He still talks about Lager and Raegan often. I knew Sara's death was going to crush him.
Aaron dug the hole. Camden laid her down on her side like she always slept. Then Camden said the Pledge of Allegiance (O yes he did). We told Sara we loved her and told her she was a very good piggy.
With tears in his eyes the whole time, Camden tried to be tough.
We will miss our Sara! Even though she wasn't with us long, we enjoyed her. I am very proud of our Camden.
Dalia is depressed without her cage mate! Not eating and sad. :(
