Pic of the week
This picture comes from my cousin Colleen. This is my sister Becky in the stroller in 1985-86. How teeny was she?? She was a little nugget too....and well, still is! Becky is getting married soon and I have been working hard on her bridal shower this week, so this is my pic of the week! Thanks Colleen!

Huge milestones!
In the past month, Ailyn has been really showing improvement in therapy. She has met some milestones that we have been working hard on for months! They might seem very small to most, but for Ailyn, they are HUGE! We are so proud of her.
Ailyn will NOT hold two objects at the same time. Not matter how much you try to trick her. BUT, NO MORE! I looked up to see her not only holding two toy rings but she was banging them together!! I was so excited to tell her therapist when she came today!
Ailyn also has started splashing the water in the bathtub. She has done it every night since she started. Once Ailyn masters a milestone she doesn't forget how and can do it well. This is huge!
She is getting everywhere now. She puts her hands together and drags her whole body all around. We are still working on using her legs with the creeping. But, she does put weight on her legs.
The neurologist appointment went very well! We are very happy with the doctor, in fact we really like her. She made us feel very comfortable. Ailyn will have an EEG done in a couple weeks. We are going to do genetic testing. Since Ailyn was gestationally small for 28 weeks and she has remained small, she thinks we just need to do some testing. Her developmental pediatrician has brought this up too. She agrees we can wait for the feeding tube.
And, the best milestone! Ailyn made it to her first Red Sox game!!! It was so hot... but both kids did very well. This was Camden's third game of the year and I am sure not the last.

Sorry!
I posted a video I made of Ailyn's first year but for some reason it was playing the unedited version.... so I deleted it. I will be playing the DVD at her birthday parties soon ;)

The many faces of Ailyn

I brought her outside and Camden said "Look at you in your strawberry and cherry bathing suit, I just want to eat you up!!" (Yes, Mommy this was the pictures I was taking while you were on the phone)

Update
Thank you all so much for asking how we are all doing. It's so great to know we have so much support. Ailyn has had no more seizures that we know of. Of course she has not been out of my sight since. Even Daddy got her out of the crib last night because she "moving all around". So we both worried sick over her. She has an appointment with the seizure clinic early next week.
We also decided to cancel her feeding tube surgery. This was a very hard decision. But, we both feel that the seizure overrides the feeding tube. She is not underweight, although she is tiny...she is gaining weight. Just not "catch up" weight. She is finally meeting more of her milestones and has made huge improvements with her gross motor in the past few weeks. The doctors of course are not happy but again said it was our choice.
Ailyn's blood pressure is still not under control either. They increased her medication and we had blood work and a pressure check today. It is still higher than they would like it to be.
So with the seizure and the high blood pressure, we feel putting off the surgery is the best for Ailyn. We lost her once, so we are very overprotective of her :)
So thank you, thank you for all the calls, emails and Facebook messages. It helps me get through these tough times knowing we have great family and friends looking over our Strawberry.
